Thinking about coming to Lake Texoma to visit us? Well, if you like fishing, you may have found your own personal paradise! Lake Texoma is one of the largest reservoirs in the United States. The lake is formed by the Denison Dam on the Red River in Bryan County, Oklahoma and Grayson County, Texas. Attracting over 6 million visitors a year,  it is located at the confluence of Red River and the Washita Rivers. Around the lake there are two wildlife refuges, two state parks, fifty four USACE-managed parks, twelve marinas, and many excellent golf courses.

Lake Texoma sprawls over out 89,000 acres between the states of Texas and Oklahoma, and each one of those 89,000 acres is an opportunity for you to catch many different kinds of fish! The lake has striper bass, black bass, sand bass, small-mouthed bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. Striped bass are usually found in the ocean, but one of the biggest populations of stripers can be found right here in Lake Texoma. Lake Texoma is also home to some huge catfish, with one of the heaviest weighing in at over 118 pounds! Sand bass are also very popular in Lake Texoma. In the spring, huge schools of “sandies” spawn in the streams and creeks that feed into the Lake. There is even a Sand Bass Festival right here in Madill, which includes music, food, fun, and of course, fishing. You can check that out usually in the first week of June.

To fish in Lake Texoma, you can purchase a $12 fishing license and have access to the entire lake. Most bait shops or marinas sell the fishing license.
